Hi to all our Members and Camp Holders, from the management committee.

It has been while since the committee have notified you of events and happenings upon the Reserve.

Our Annual General Meeting was held at the Mt Garnet Turf Club, at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday 28th October, with a sizeable crowd in attendance. Thanks to all those who travelled out for the day, it was great to catch up with you.

As per nominations received the new Committee is as follows:

  • President: Gary Eales
  • Vice President: Greg Norris
  • Secretary: Maxine Ryle
  • Treasurer: Sharron Porter

We welcome Greg and Maxine to our team and look forward to working together. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank George Kidner our previous Vice President for all he has done for our Club while in this position. George has resigned to spend more time with his family, but he assures us that he will be around to help out about the reserve when needs be. Thank you, George.

Gary delivered his Presidents Report, his lengthy delivery outlined works completed across the reserve and thanks given to all those who continue to help and give advice along the way, this is invaluable to our Club.

Gary paid tribute to Kevin Mc Donald, Kevin dedicated 55 years of his life to this reserve he will be sadly missed by many, his legacy will live on.

It is 4 years since the last audit of electrical power poles upon the reserve. This is a mandatory requirement as ours is a public Reserve, this audit will be conducted within the next few months. The inspection cost will be approximately $16,000. this does not include the costs of any repairs. It needs mentioning that only those poles carrying “service” lines are included. Camp holders are asked to please inspect their own Camp power poles and arrange any works deemed necessary.

In the coming weeks it is hoped to commence work upon the Trustee storage shed for extensions to include a workshop and much needed additional storage space.

The Trustees have bought 50 X 240 litre blue wheelie bins for placement within the public campgrounds during our annual event weekend. It is recommended that camps purchase similar size wheelie bins (not larger, this is to accommodate the smaller garbage truck) for their camps, to facilitate easier handling for our event waste contractors.

The Trustees would ask Camp Holders to please consider installing a fire extinguisher/fire blanket to their camp’s chattels. The immediate predicament in our Reserve area does reinforce this suggestion.

It is noted that some camps have not applied/positioned their camp numbers where emergency services can easily see. Camp holders are requested to attend to this matter, and let the Trustees know if you have not yet or are unable to identify your water entry points. This enables camps to be isolated in the event of water leaks.

A General Members meeting was held following the AGM, where items of discussion included, the proposed date for our major Working Bee, to be held Australia Day weekend 2024. The Race Club and Rodeo Association have also indicated their intention for this weekend to be their main working Bee weekend. So please save the date! Tasks have been identified for this weekend, and we hope to have a great roll up, and a social get together.

The annual Races and Rodeo weekend will be held 3rd 4th and 5th of May 2024.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the trustees if you have any queries regarding the reserve or your camps, our contact details are detailed above.

The festive season is now upon us, we hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2024
