Dear Members and Camp Holders,
This is a brief update on Trust Lands maintenance and future requirements.
On Thursday 25 July 2024, members of the Trustee Management Committee and our Event Management Committee met jointly with representatives of the Department of Resources and representatives from Tableland Regional Council.
This meeting was arranged following receipt of a letter written by neighbour Rohan Collins and sent to the Queensland Director General, the Queensland Minister for Lands, the Department of Resources and Tableland Regional Council. R. Collins has constantly bombarded authorising bodies complaining about Trust Land, our annual event and various management practices.
A walk around the Trust Land was undertaken. Despite the frosting damage, both groups of representatives were very impressed with the Reserve status, especially regarding infrastructure and amenities provided.
The meeting was purely a “discussion and consideration” exercise.
DoR representatives have conducted scrutiny of the Land Management Plan, with preliminary approval given, however, due to changes to the Queensland Land Act, now seek some small amendments.
The Department will deliver to The Trustee committee, guidelines to implement a permit system for all private camps. Private Camp holders will be required to have an annual permit renewal agreement with the Trustees. More information to follow for Camp holders.
At this time the Trust Management Committee is busy developing plans for works to be carried out across the reserve.
Quotes have been obtained for the construction of an amenities block on the northern public campgrounds.
Following the electrical power audit in April 2024, additional works will be undertaken on power delivery infrastructure.
It would be hoped to commence some earthworks to support parking of day visitors and weekend campers in the near future.
We would also like to remind you of the Mt Garnet Car and Bike show to be held on the grounds September 7 2024, look forward to seeing you there.
Kind regards
Maxine Ryle
